Bio & education
Freddy Magdaleno Gonzalez was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at the age of two. He began his musical journey at fifteen as a self-taught guitarist, teaching himself the basics of the guitar along with a wide range of musical styles. His passion for classical guitar was discovered in 2019 when he began his collegiate studies in music, marking a pivotal moment in his artistic development.
Freddy earned his Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Fullerton in 2023. He went on to complete his graduate studies in 2026 at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship and served as faculty on record. These educational institutions both reflect Freddy’s commitment to high-quality music education training.
In Fall of 2026, Freddy will continue his academic and artistic pursuits beginning his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
teaching
Freddy has been teaching for 5+ years in areas of Los Angeles CA, Louisville KY, New Albany IN, and online as well. Freddy teaches students aged 5 or older.
Freddy has taught group classes, led ensembles, and provided professional-level private lessons in many of his previous positions during his years of teaching.
Dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for students of all levels, Freddy values strong foundational technique, music literacy, musical expression, and strives to inspire each student to develop a deep appreciation for music.
Performing
Freddy has been performing both solo and chamber music for years and has developed a refined artistic identity.
Most recently, he has premiered new solo guitar piece by Kinga Wójcik titled Rush.

Freddy has been composing for 5+ years.
Most recently, Freddy composed and premiered a piece for guitar quartet utilizing extended techniques on the guitar titled Crashing Waves.
